Sparks Steakhouse
Sparks is another famous steak house in New York. Some say that some chefs from Peter Lugers left and started Sparks. Some also say that it was a hang out spot for the mafia. All I know is that it is a great place for steak. Our Caesar Salad waiting to be served to us. The garlic roasted croutons were fab. Filet Mignon. Melts in your mouth. Not just steak, they also have lobster. This...

Mott Pho Bang
One asian cuisine we have not had since we arrived (along with Indian) is Vietnamese Pho. We used to go regularly back home (Richmond, Victoria St) so we wanted to find some in this city. The wife was told by a Vietnamese cabbie that there is no good Vietnamese in Manhattan. Gotta go to Queens. Anyway it was worth checking out the ones in town.  This one was located in Chinatown and there are 3...

Photo du jour
I think these are of the servicemen killed in action. Much respect for all the servicemen who put their lives on the line for their country.

Tacombi Tacqueria
Situated in Noho, this relatively new looking hole in the wall restaurant looked very interesting on the outside. I have started enjoying tacos much more since moving here.  How can you resist going in to have a look? There is a VW combi fan there. They make the tacos in the van. It looked rather cramped and difficult to make tacos with fresh cooked ingredients. It showed… The...

Les Halles
Owned by Anthony Bourdain, this Frenchie restaurant was super packed. So little room as the tables are all packed in, but the food was excellent. Packed. People waiting outside and at the bar for a table. Escargots - garlicy and buttery Delicious duck with an even more delicious salad. My steak

Yumcha @ Golden Unicorn
Another recommendation from friends. Yumcha is pretty good in Melbourne, and this is not too bad. Not the same variety of dishes though.  Going to Yumcha you couldn’t tell what country you are in.  Whoops ate all the food.

New Era Flagship
Hats are popular in this country. Not the akubra with the dangling corks, nor the legionnaires hats with the flap I had to wear at school. The New Era cap. Like the sneaker, you can never have enough and are a great addition to most outfits. So there was great excitement when I found the New Era store.  Yankees hats come in any colour imaginable. You can have a hat ‘expanded’...
